About the Role

Our client is a true ethical bank with a strong history of Social Purpose Sector and Charitable Sector lending.

They now have an exciting opportunity for a Prudential Risk Manager. Reporting to the Bank’s Head of Risk, the Prudential Risk Officer will work closely with the Finance Department to develop core risk capabilities and develop, implement and embed the Risk Management Framework and its supporting processes and systems. This role will focus on prudential, treasury and model risk management. This will include providing a view to the executive management as to the effectiveness of the risk management in these areas.

As the Prudential Risk Manager - Commercial Banking your responsibilities and duties will include:

o Annually review the Prudential Risk Management Framework to ensure alignment with the Risk Management Framework, with appropriate effective and proportionate identification and treatment of risk.

o Work closely with the Head of Risk with implementing and embedding the risk management framework to ensure the Finance department are managing and reporting the financial and prudential risks faced by the Bank.

o Support Finance to develop metrics including key risk and key performance indicators and undertake analysis of risk data/information for insights and possible impacts.

o Assess the control environment to ensure the systems, processes and spreadsheets used within Finance remain effective.

o Support the monitoring of risks arising from the business model and risks to the delivery of the Strategic plan.

o Support the monitoring of risks arising from climate change and the treasury portfolio.

o Working with the Compliance team and using the horizon scanning tool, review, track and monitor regulatory changes (relevant to prudential and treasury) and any other relevant communications from the regulators.

o Where appropriate, provide the business with an interpretation of the changes to identify the potential affect and impact of the proposed regulatory change on the business. Where a more technical interpretation is required, liaise externally with consultants.

o Undertake the 2LOD review and challenge of the 1LOD assessment of the capital requirements for operational risk within the ICAAP.

o Undertake the 2LOD review and oversight of the ICAAP and ILAAP to ensure risks have been appropriately identified and mitigated and that the Bank is meeting regulatory requirements.

o Working with the Chief Risk Officer and Head of Risk, assist with the annual review (or following significant change to the business model/strategy of the Bank) and update of the Recovery Plan and every other year, assist with the review and update of the Resolution Framework. Work closely with the business and finance with the delivery of both to ensure we meet our regulatory requirements.

o Review and update the Stress Testing framework and proportionate approaches for reporting and scenario analysis.

o Review and develop the stress scenarios to be used within the ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery Plan and Reverse Stress Test. Understand and interpret the results of these stress tests.

o Undertake the 2LOD review of capital and liquidity returns and other regulatory reports for example COREP.

o Undertake the 2LOD review and challenge of the 1LOD approach to operational resilience.

o Review and update the Model Risk Management Framework.

o Lead on the 2LOD responsibilities with model risk management: the completion of basic validation checks and liaise with internal audit with regard to the scheduling of technical validations.

Personal

o Maintain compliance with all legal, regulatory and procedural requirements.

o Maintain up to date knowledge of regulatory and legislative developments across all areas of responsibility.

o Comply with the Individual Conduct rules.

o Support the Bank in embracing good customer outcomes and supporting the embedding of the Conduct Risk Framework.

Required experience of the Prudential Risk Manager - Commercial Banking (Social Purpose Sector)

Experience

  • Working in an Audit, Risk Management or PRA regulated environment.
  • Proven stakeholder management capability
  • Experience of PRA regulation (capital, liquidity, treasury, recovery plan, stress testing and model risk management) within a regulated financial environment

Qualifications

Degree level or equivalent
