Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Site Librarian at our Hayward Heath's campus. You will join us on a full time (37 hours per week, 40 working weeks per year, paid for 46.2 weeks per year), permanent basis and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of Pro rata of £29,483 - £32,226 (i.e. £24,778.59 - £27,083.91) per annum.

The Site Librarian role:

Are you interested in a Site Librarian role at a modern and vibrant Further Education College?

As our experienced qualified Site Librarian, you will take day-to-day responsibility for the Library at Haywards Heath College. You will liaise directly with curriculum staff to provide relevant resources, collection development and research skills training. In liaison with teaching staff, you will ensure that the stock, services and environment of the Library support student learning.

The working pattern for this role will be:

  • 8.15 to 5pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (7 hours 45 minutes with 1 hour for lunch)
  • 8.15 to 4.15pm Wednesday (7 hours with 1 hour for lunch)
  • 8.15 to 4.00pm Friday (6 hours 45 minutes with 1 hour for lunch)

Key Responsibilities of ourSite Librarian:

  • Developing and promoting the stock and services of the Library through liaison with curriculum staff in across the campus.
  • Providing front line customer service on the Enquiry and Circulation Desks.
  • Monitoring and reporting on progress against Performance Indicators.
  • Assisting in the development, promotion and delivery of induction and information skills programmes both face-to-face and through electronic means.
  • Supporting the development and promotion of electronic learning resources, including writing and delivering tutorials and writing information guides.
  • Performing other professional duties, including stock acquisition and maintenance, as required.
  • Providing cover to other Libraries within the College Group as required.
  • Monitoring the Library environment, by ensuring an atmosphere conducive to learning and by monitoring the LRC’s fabric, equipment and building services.
  • Maintaining and developing contacts with external library and/or FE institutions and keep abreast of relevant educational and resource-based trends.
  • Ordering resources required for the smooth running of the library in consultation with the College Librarian.

Our ideal Site Librarian should have the below skills and experience:

  • Education to degree level
  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in librarianship or information management accredited by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals or willingness to work towards
  • Experience working within a customer focussed library environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including a working knowledge of databases and websites
