Job Title: SHE Manager
Location: Birkenhead
Duration: Contract (3+ months)
Salary : Negotiable

Our client based in Birkenhead, Merseyside, are looking for an experienced SHE Manager for a minimum of 3 months.

Key Aim:

* Overall responsibility for driving Safety, Health & Environmental excellence across the site, ensuring that best practice and statutory obligations are fully met.
* A partner to the Senior Management Team (in-particularly Operations & Logistics Management and Supervision).
* Responsible for embedding a safety culture ensuring full employee engagement in SHE activities to drive a culture of zero harm.
* Ensure company retains ISO accreditations.

Key Duties & Tasks:
* Responsible for the development, management and implementation of the SHE strategy for site, ensuring where required it is linked to the wider UK and company Global vision.
* Work closely with the site management and supervision to implement best practice and raise awareness of initiatives which will help deliver the strategy, developing, training and coaching as necessary and instilling a 'no walk past' culture within the business.
* Coach and develop other members of the SHE team, to partner with the business and ensure personal and professional development, setting clear objectives and supporting their delivery as required.
* Implement a site audit programme, ensuring compliance with all associated legislation and management system requirements. Ensure all audits are carried out and ensure that any remedial recommendations are followed up.
* Principal contact with external, regulatory, audit and trade bodies on health, safety and environmental matters e.g. HSE, EA, BSI.
* Lead the continued evolution of the SHE Management System to ensure that it is fit for purpose and delivers the competence required to meet all regulatory, safety and quality requirements.
* Develop and monitor SHE KPI's and provide management with statistical/trend analysis and take remedial action where necessary.
* Monitor the implementation of Risk/CoSHH assessments ensuring suitable and sufficient safe working instructions are determined and communicated as appropriate.
* Manage records of incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers, ensure compliance with RIDDOR regulations, and provide recommendations for ensuring non-repetition of incident/accident.
* Implement, manage and deliver the site SHE communication strategy.
* Keep up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all SHE legislation and any developments that affect the business.
* Ensure a robust Health Surveillance programme is in place and aligned with industry requirements.
* Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others and promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace.
* Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to.
* Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents and incidents by the end of that shift to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence.
* KPI Management.
* Completion of monthly reporting cycle.
* Adherence to audit schedule.

Education & Qualifications

? NEBOSH Qualification

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

? Business acumen.
? Experience of KPI collation.
? Proven experience of designing and delivering H&S training.
? Experience of working and developing an integrated management system.
? Numerate
? Commercially/legally aware.
? Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
? Understanding of ISO14001/18001
? Sound IT skills (particularly Excel)
? Ability to efficiently organise work load.
?Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
