Our client based in Nelson is currently looking for experienced Sewing Machinists to join their ever growing tailoring factory, who specialise in making Primary, Secondary and University uniforms.

The ideal candidate will need to have experience in;

  • Operating a flat-bed sewing machine
  • Ensuring the material and label is correct for the production order
  • Be able to manage their workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Ensuring work is completed with maximum efficiency and highest quality
  • Be an excellent team player, ensuring completed pieces are passed to the next stage in a suitable condition
  • Daily maintenance of individual machines
  • Maintain sufficient stock of thread and labels per machine
  • Abide by the Broken Needle Policy at all times
  • Abide by the Foreign Object Policy at all times

Key skills needed for the role;

  • Exceptional hand-eye coordination
  • Good concentration levels
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to work well as part of a team and equally well independently
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically
  • Excellent and concise communication skills with Internal Stakeholders
  • Ability to plan and organise workload
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Flexibly approach to duties and tasks

This is a temporary - permanent position

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-4.30pm, Friday 8am-12.30pm

Salary starting at £11.44 per hour with added bonus of piece work
