Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is seeking a Service Technician to join their team. As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for investigating, repairing, and testing customer's lasers that have been returned. You will also be responsible for completing necessary documentation, identifying and ordering spare parts, and working as part of a multi-skilled team to improve quality and increase capacity.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Booking in of returned lasers.
  • Fault finding and diagnostic of lasers returned, using existing tools and methods.
  • Operating test equipment and recording results.
  • Carrying out necessary repairs following repair instructions.
  • Operating splice equipment for laser repair.
  • Rejecting spare parts on to internal systems and liaising with quality team.
  • Ensuring work area is kept tidy and well maintained.
Required Experience:

Essential:

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong problem-solving background.
  • Manual dexterity / Attention to detail
  • IT literate, with a strong knowledge of Excel and Word.

Preferable:

  • Experience with electronics, laser, or fibre optics.
  • Experience using test equipment such as an Oscilloscope, power meter, or DVM.
  • Experience using splice equipment (e.g., cleaver, stripper).
Qualifications:


ONC or equivalent in a suitable engineering or science discipline, or demonstrate equivalent through experience and alternative technical qualifications.
This is a contract position initially for 6 months, but it is expected to last longer depending on performance and business expansion. The starting rate is £12.20 per hour, increasing to £12.50 per hour.
