Role:              Senior Wellbeing Practitioner (Children and Young People)

Based:           Gateshead

Hourly:          £21 - £23per hour (dependant on experience) £32,824 permanent salary

Start Date:   ASAP

Duration:      3 months initially with the strong possibility of a permanent role at the end of the placement

Hours:          35 hours Monday to Friday

Our client, a leading children’s charity, providing support vulnerable children and young people across the UK is looking for a Senior Wellbeing Practitioners to join their new Open Access CYP Mental Health Service in the Northeast.

You will be working with a fantastic team and will be supporting them in introducing and delivering their ground breaking CYP Emotional Well Being model across Gateshead.

This will include working closely with a range of professionals and local services and supporting Children and Young people with low level mental health needs in their centres, schools and community services.

The role will include supporting Children and Young People ages 0-25 who are experiencing low level mental health issues.

Synopsis of duties:

·       Managing 2-4 Wellbeing practitioners (allocating cases, supporting with complex cases, 121s, etc) and will manage a small caseload/ open access duty as well.

·        Providing specialist support and advise to Children and Young People who need support with their mental health

·       Supporting children and young people aged 0 – 25 through drop in and crisis work and supporting them (and for the young children their parents and/ or carers) with coping mechanisms and strategies and through making referrals

·       Providing emotional and practical support to Children and Young People

·        You will initial focus on supporting children through their Open Access drop-in sessions but the service will extend to also provide structured 1-1 sessions with Children and Young people to help with their complex needs

·        Promoting the service in the local community, in schools and colleges

·       Encouraging the child/young person to use tools to help better their mental health and offer coping strategies

·       Working collaboratively with partners, ensuring the needs of service users are met

·       Ensuring that safeguarding is of paramount importance, ensuring that all safeguarding measures are always followed

Essential Requirements:

·       Experience of working with children/young people who have suffered with mental health issues

·       Knowledge of the issues that children, young people and adults face when accessing mental health services

·       Strong understanding of child safeguarding

·       Preferably have a qualification in one of the following: Health or Social Care related degree, JNC Qualified Youth Worker, Counselling/Therapist Qualification or equivalent

·       Must have an enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months or on the update service
