A unique opportunity is on offer at this start-up underwriting office which is part of a growing insurance group. 

Writing property and casualty business across the Canadian commercial insurance market, this will be the first casualty underwriter into the business.  You will be integral to the underwriting strategy of this unit and developing a defined business plan alongside the MD.

This includes the products the business should focus on based on your market knowledge, interests and the scale of the opportunity on offer.  There will also be input into the overall strategy of the company including headcount growth and development of the property underwriting function as required. 

To be successful in this position, you will need strong casualty underwriting experience in the Canadian insurance market which can be in any line of business such as PI, GL, Workers' Comp, Auto etc.  This can also be in any part of the market, such as packaged, mid-market or larger risks. 

The key attribute for this position is the desire to join a new market player and be an integral part of their growth. Being the first into this organization provides the benefit to shape the function in your own image.  

This role can be based anywhere in Canada on a remote basis.  If an office location is sought after, the location is in Toronto.
