Position: Senior Stress Engineer

Are you passionate about pushing the boundaries of structural analysis in the aerospace industry? We're seeking a dynamic Senior Stress Engineer to join our team in Derby, UK, and take on a pivotal role in ensuring the structural integrity of our cutting-edge turbomachinery designs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive analysis plans and schedules for analytical or design analysis projects.
  • Collaborate closely with IPT leads and Program Engineering Managers to meet project requirements and deliverables.
  • Participate in regular round-table meetings with Structures Technical Focal Points and other structural engineers to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior structure engineers.
  • Conduct customer communications for engineering projects and lead internal design reviews with the Chief Engineer's Office.
  • Document lessons learned and contribute to the continuous improvement of structural analysis methods and procedures.
  • Perform analytical calculations, design support, and ensure thorough documentation of structural design and analysis.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of applied industry stress analysis experience on turbomachinery/combustion hardware.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis methods, procedures, and finite element software packages like ABAQUS, ANSYS, or NASTRAN.
  • Strong understanding of solid mechanics, strength of materials, and gas turbine component structural behaviour.
  • CAD experience, preferably with NX proficiency.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to make technical presentations internally and to customers.
