Position: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Birmingham (1 day away on site)

Job Type: Full-time/Perm

Salary: £60,000- £70,000

You will be a Quantity Surveyor with a specialism in the repair and restoration of historic and listed buildings.

Purpose of Role

You will be responsible for the successful delivery of prestigious projects ranging from £1m to £5M) - restoring, reinstating, refurbishing, building and fitting them out to the highest standard of design and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire tendering process for historic building projects, including preparing detailed Bills of Quantities, analysing tenders, and preparing comprehensive tender reports for client sign-off.
  • Develop and maintain cost plans throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring accurate forecasting and budget management.
  • Generate monthly financial statements, providing clear and concise analysis of project expenditures and variances.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify and engage subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project requirements and budgetary constraints.
  • Oversee subcontractor accounts from procurement through to final account stage, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and timely resolution of any disputes.
  • Conduct regular site visits and assessments to monitor progress, identify potential cost variations, and mitigate risks.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, particularly regarding historic preservation guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proficiency in preparing Bills of Quantities and conducting thorough tender analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and prepare accurate cost forecasts.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Familiarity with relevant software tools such as CostX, Bluebeam, or similar quantity surveying software.
  • Knowledge of historic preservation principles and regulations is highly desirable.
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., MRICS) is a plus.
  • Pre and post contract skills are vital.
  • Must have RICS
