Are you looking for an autonomous role overseeing the commercial functions on a long term, large scale residential scheme in Cornwall?

This independent, award winning company which has successfully been building homes in the South West for over 30 years are actively seeking an experienced and self sufficient Senior QS/Commercial Manager to lead this mixed scheme of open market and affordable units.  

The job role is to achieve the company’s fundamental objective of maximising the profitability of the scheme whilst delivering quality and building strong relationships with the sub-contractors and supply chain. You must be able to locate and obtain the best value at all times and practice tight budgetary control/value monitoring for the project alongside preparing accurate reports and updates for the Commercial Director as required.

Key Duties
  • Procurement of materials and labour with support of a buying department
  • To be able to negotiate payments to subcontractors and contract placing.
  • Settle final accounts
  • Lead and take full responsibility for commercial functions.
  • To maximise profitability / budgetary control.
  • Managing processes so that all deadlines are met efficiently.
  • Be able to obtain best commercial value throughout the construction of the site.
  • Commercial reporting
  • Oversee and mentor less experienced members of staff
Key Attributes
  • Previous experience delivering successful residential development schemes
  • Qualified to min HNC level
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • A “hands on” QS, comfortable working autonomously
  • Fully IT literate
  • A solid career history with leading residential developers
