We are excited to be recruiting for a Senior Press Officer in Maidstone. This on a temporary basis for 14 months for Maternity cover. Our client offers hybrid working (three days office, two home)

We are looking for someone to manage the day to day running of the PR, press office and maintain the company's reputation through excellent communications with the media. As a Senior Press Officer you'll enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You will be adaptable ready to switch from planned PR work to communication in emergency incidents. You'll be confident in communications, media handling, PR and innovative campaigns. You will be a vital role in the press office for emergency incident and crisis communications.

Duties can include:

  • Working with the public and journalists
  • Create interview briefs and communicate with senior management and staff for interviews
  • Play a senior role in handling significant and major incident communications
  • Plan and execute projects for content and campaigns that make a change
  • Manage the team of on-call press officers and plan the rota for out of hours service
  • Be on-call once every six weeks

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Degree level or equivalent in journalism/communications/PR/marketing, or, significant experience in a busy communications team/news room/PR agency.
  • Has experience in media management
  • Can handle sensitive matters and crisis communications
  • Has outstanding attention to detail
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Can produce and implement communications plans and campaigns with proven results
  • Can remain calm and think clearly and quickly in crisis situations
  • Is a team player

This role is a 37 hour week pays between £35026P/A - £39508*P/A + on call additional payment of £3684P/A

*(depending on experience)

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS and referencing.
