Senior Planning Lawyer
Southwark
£50 per hour (umbrella)
Full Time Contract ( 3 months)

Novax Recruitment is actively seeking a Senior Planning Lawyer in Southwark. This is a contract without a scope for extension working full time hours.

The job:

  • Responsible for the provision of complex legal advice within a defined area, ensuring that the principles of good governance are met, in accordance with the regulatory framework.
  • Make an effective contribution to the development and delivery of corporate & service strategies, policies and operational plans that secure the achievement of service
  • To provide legal expertise on highly complex issues for the organisation, ensuring that services are commercially focused and business driven
  • To participate in determining and setting the direction for the department in business and financial planning
  • Establish good governance and implement new methods, forms and procedures in accordance with requirements of the DPA, FOI and Local Government Law generally


The candidate:

  • Must hold a current practicing certificate
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a local authority is essential
  • A thorough and comprehensive practical understanding of local government law and the impact of human rights and equalities legislation
  • Comprehensive knowledge in Planning, Regeneration and Highways
  • Budget management experience, which demonstrate competency in setting priorities and managing within allocated budgets
