We are currently recruiting for an Operational Risk Senior Associate to join a leading wealth and investment management firm. This role is currently being offered as an 18 month fixed term contract due to some changes occuring across the wider business, but it is replacing a permanent headcount so there is a real possibility of it becoming a permanent role at the end of the initial contract period.

The First Line of Defence (1LOD) Operational Risk team acts as a partner with the Front Office to assist with the embedding of the Risk Management Framework into the business providing a conduit between Front office and Second Line of Defence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the day to day activities of the client facing front office in terms of identifying and reporting operating events, champion the embedding of the Operational Risk Framework and a continuing risk-aware culture, including awareness of Client Asset regulations ('CASS’).
  • Monitor and challenge the timely escalation, quality and progress of all potential and crystallised risks through operating events and ensure the data is kept maintained in the risk system.
  • Analyse operational risk themes and perform thematic risk reviews.
  • Review and update procedures documents and key controls
  • Facilitate, review, challenge and support departmental Risk and Control Self Assessments
  • Support consistent risk reporting to management that is of a high standard and submitted by deadlines

Requirements:

  • Operational Risk experience gained within Financial Services
  • Practical experience in operating internal controls and the management of operational risk
  • Customer-centric focus and ability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders at all levels across a wider range of teams.
  • Able to understand technical issues at an appropriate level to provide stakeholders with sufficient detail and guidance when necessary.
  • The successful candidate must be flexible and adaptable in their approach to the role as this will be key as the role evolves because of both technology and organisational change.

This role is London based with hybrid working - 2 days a week in the office.
