Senior Manager (Accounting)

Permanent / Full Time

£65k-£70k depending on experience

Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) Bonus + Benefits Package

Hybrid, blend of Head Office in Cranfield and at home.

The Role…

  • To manage a portfolio of clients to ensure the timely completion of statutory accounts, compliance-based outputs and other advisory requests.
  • Lead, manage and develop the team of accountants to ensure our clients are serviced to the highest standard.
  • Delegate work to junior members of the team, mentor and support them to build business capability and capacity.
  • Review work prepared by trainees on your behalf.
  • Review tax computations, VAT returns. reports and/or accounts for clients to the highest standard.
  • Ensure accounting and tax standards are followed precisely.
  • Ensure that MPA’s ACCA accreditation is maintained, and the service provided is to the highest standard and policy, process, best practice, and legal compliance is observed.
  • Develop understanding of client needs (including sector, industry and economy) and their expectations so that you can advise accordingly and look for opportunities to extend the services offered to them.
  • Seek opportunities for innovation and continuous improvements.
  • Prepare articles etc for marketing to build the department’s brand.
  • Attend and contribute as appropriate to client meetings.
  • Undertake any and all AML activities and training in line with the Company AML policy and procedures in a timely manner, so that client work can be acted upon appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that individual and team data is maintained accurately and completely, so that it can be used and relied upon to inform effective decisions and actions.
  • Promote and demonstrate company core values and behaviors, leading by example.

This role would suit a qualified accountant in a Client Manager, Portfolio Manager, Senior Manager type position. Your client portfolio will be a variety of Owner Managers, Tech Start-ups, Tech industry in general, amongst others.

The Candidate…

  • ACA-ICAEW or ACCA Qualified.
  • 5 years+ experience post qualification, preferably in a practice environment at a senior level.
  • Expert level of understanding and experience of preparation of annual statutory accounts under FRS 105, FRS102 (1a), LLP Accounts and Charity Accounts, to the highest standard.
  • Line management experience, experienced in coaching and training trainees, including demonstrating ability to explain complex terms to non-specialists.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software and CRM systems, advocate for tech enablement.
  • Good general knowledge of UK tax legislation.
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and GDPR regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written. Able to engage at all levels both verbally and in writing utilising a variety of channels.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to spot opportunities and build client relationships.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise competing demands, whilst supporting others in managing their own workload.
  • UK driving licence and access to own transport.
  • The right to work in the UK is a requirement.

This role can be based nationally but will include regular travel to our offices in Cranfield near Milton Keynes and surrounding areas as part of a hybrid working model. Full UK driving licence required.
