Looking to take your finance career to the next level? We have the perfect opportunity for you! We are currently seeking a Senior Management Accountant to take ownership of the P&L and Balance sheet for key divisions of our client's group.

As the go-to person in finance for the Directors of your Division(s), you will provide an effective service to our business while also managing an Assistant Accountant and performing first-level reviews of the P&L and balance sheet for Central Overhead. This role offers potential for growth and development, including full people management responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce timely and accurate management information in accordance with internal deadlines and in compliance with the Group accounting policies.
  • Produce monthly Management Accounts for your entities, ensuring all queries are resolved.
  • Provide insightful analysis and commentary of revenues and costs to Stakeholders, including Divisional Directors.
  • Prepare necessary journals to account for revenues and costs (including accruals and prepayments), ensuring all entries are accurately processed through the GL so that Management Accounts are produced and issued in accordance with internal guidelines in appropriate formats.
  • Drive the annual budget process for your divisions, working with Managing Director of the division to produce a budget that is aligned to Group targets and growth plans.
  • Task management of the Assistant Accountant and perform first level review of P&L and balance sheet for central overheads.
  • Establish strong working relationships with Directors and Senior Managers across the business, providing information and support to them as needed to ensure they manage their P&L to budget.
  • Reconcile and ensure tight control of Balance Sheets for specific entities, including close management of WIP provisions to ensure appropriate revenue and cost recognition.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to drive greater efficiency, improve accuracy in the production of the management accounts, to meet the growing needs of the business, as agreed with management.
  • Completion of returns to the Office for National Statistics
  • Support with coaching and development across the team.
  • Provide cover for other members of the team as appropriate.
  • Other duties as are within the scope and spirit of the job and the title of the position that may arise from time to time or as required by management.

What are we looking for:

  • ACCA, ACA or CIMA Qualified
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Able to plan, organise and prioritise
  • Able to communicate at all levels
  • Excellent IT skills - Experience of Microsoft suite of products, Word, Excel etc. (to include Pivot tables, Lookups, and Sumif(s) formulas)
  • Attention to detail, whilst retaining site of the bigger picture
  • Must be proactive
  • Strong Team Player
  • Keen to learn and improve processes.
