We are recruiting for a Senior HR Advisor to support the HR function within a public sector organisation located in the Fareham area of Hampshire.

Job Purpose

To provide delivery and support of a high quality, professional, effective and customer focused HR service and advice to all units managed by the organisation.

Key Responsibilities include (not exhaustive):

  • Provide accurate, high quality and timely HR advice enabling managers to make informed decisions, maximise employee performance, select the best candidates and/or address workplace issues/conflict.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the different business areas supported by the organisation to effectively deliver practical, timely and quality people solutions, HR services and support, including casework services, HR representation at formal meetings and case conferences, job evaluation, selection interviewing and workforce and succession planning.
  •  Maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, managers, staff, HR colleagues (both internally and externally) and staff association representatives.
  • Accountable for responding to enquiries and considering and providing action/support to managers/staff with a view to improving and sustaining performance, meeting standards and resolving conflict.
  • Provide advice to staff, managers and others on application of HR policy and practice and people related matters. Constructively challenge, persuade and influence managers to act and make decisions in accordance with policy/procedure and employment practice to minimise employee relations difficulties and potential ET claims and ensure any identified learning is implemented.
  • Supervise, develop and coach HR Officers/Assistants.
  • Produce summary reports as and when required and contribute.

Education/Qualification

Essential:

  • Educated to Educated to QCF Level 5 OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.
  • CIPD graduate (Level 7 Advanced Certificate in Human Resources) or equivalent HR experience deemed to have brought the role holder to a comparable level.

Desirable:

  • Additional qualification relevant to role, e.g., British Psychological Society Level A or equivalent qualification.

Experience and Skills

Essential:

  • Considerable experience in a general HR role, providing HR Advice to a range of managers.
  • Experience of dealing with complex cases/enquiries.
  • Understanding of relevant UK legislation. A good understanding and ability to apply employment law and legislative guidance in HR solutions with knowledge of up-to-date case law developments.

This is a full-time, temporary role for 6-9 months, paying between £20.23 - £21.73 per hour PAYE (equivalent to a £39,036.00 -  £41,928 per annum, full time, 37 hours per week)).

Hybrid working arrangements are in place for this role.
