Our client is a Council based in Kent. Currently they are seeking a Senior Homelessness Review Officer & Service Improvement Officer on a Temporary basis.?

The ideal candidate will have housing experience and may have experience within Homelessness and service improvement. This role requires an enhanced DBS and offers hybrid working with 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.

Duties will include:
Undertaking reviews of homelessness decisions under S202 of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended)

  • Leading on reviews under other sections and provide guidance to the team on all relevant legislation around reviews
  • To ensure that the Council’s statutory duties under housing and homelessness legislation are correctly determined and administered
  • Leading and managing the Housing Allocations Team setting high performance and service standards, monitoring their performance and taking remedial action if necessary, ensuring that each member of staff is adequately trained to perform their duties and that their individual appraisal objectives are being met
  • In line with the Allocations policy, ensure those in housing need have support to access Kent Home choice, the choice-based lettings scheme for all council and housing association homes in Kent and other avenues to alleviate housing need. Making links with Kent Housing Group and external partners to develop good working relationships
  • To effectively manage budgets within your service ensuring effective cost management and prioritisation
  • To lead in continually improving the homeless prevention service. Comprehensively review cases where homeless prevention has not succeeded, to identify and rectify any shortfalls in casework or procedure
  • To establish, implement and be accountable for efficient and effective processes, with clear written procedures to ensure consistency of service delivery. In addition, take a full and active role in service development, including service reviews
  • To review and develop policies and procedures to meet the current and future needs of the service, participating in research and development activities that contribute and drive continuous service improvement
