Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to play a pivotal role in our smart motorways project. As a Senior Engineer, you will lead technical initiatives, provide expertise in highway engineering, and contribute to the development and implementation of cutting-edge smart transportation systems. This role can be paid outside IR35 through ltd company.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering activities related to smart motorways projects from conception to completion.
  • Design, review, and optimise intelligent traffic management systems, including variable speed limits, dynamic lane control, and incident detection.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions that enhance safety, capacity, and efficiency of motorway networks.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses to inform project decisions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure project objectives are met and regulatory requirements are adhered to.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in smart transportation, contributing to the advancement of our technical capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in highway engineering, traffic management, or related fields, with a focus on smart motorways projects for a Tier 1 contractor.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and traffic engineering software (e.g., VISSIM, Synchro).
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design and implementation of intelligent transportation systems, including familiarity with industry standards and guidelines.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate resources effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and build productive relationships.
