Senior Credit Controller

• Job Type: Full-time / Permanent

• Location: Guildford (Office Based Role)

• Salary: £32,000 - 35,000+ (Depending on experience!)

A modern forward-thinking law firm that is revolutionising the legal industry with a consultant-led model are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join their Finance team. This role is a new and crucial part of ensuring the efficient and timely collection of customer invoices and will play a key part in the development of the credit control function.

Day to Day of the role:

• Review and enhance existing credit control processes, implementing automation where possible.

• Liaise with solicitors to ensure prompt payment of client invoices and disbursements.

• Maintain accurate records of all chasing activity on the finance database for transparency and action planning.

• Regularly review client ledgers to manage money on account and ensure timely transfers to the office account.

• Send client statements, payment requests, or reconcile client ledgers as needed.

• Monitor new instructions to secure money on account.

• Collaborate with solicitors and the Financial Controller on actions for late payments or potential bad debts, adhering to internal policies.

• Provide detailed reports on credit control activity, follow-ups, and payment promises.

• Create and manipulate Excel reports for Senior Management.

• Mentor and supervise the existing credit controller.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in Credit Control within a law firm.

• Familiarity with Practice Evolve or other case management systems (desirable).

• Experience in automating credit control processes.

• Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel).

• Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines and cash collection targets.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional, confident telephone manner.
