About the Role

This role is a temporary ad-hoc 2-month fixed term contract based within Carey Camp; Wareham is set amongst private woodlands overlooking the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. We make the most of the beautiful surroundings by delivering our activities on and off-site. We cater for schools, educational groups, professional organisations, and the general public.

As Senior Cook, reporting to the Senior Administrator/ Senior Tutor; you will be overseeing all kitchen operations as well as managing a team of kitchen staff. Your day will consist of a variety of duties whilst helping us to support the development of our guests.

We are looking for somebody who can be versatile, ability to perform under pressure, excellent communication skills and ability to carry out the day-to-day duties of the role.

What is the day-to-day of the role:

• Planning menus, working with the budgets provided, and ordering supplies. Maintaining the stock control.
• Preparation of the home cooked meals, baking of cakes and desserts and prepare packed lunches.
• Supervise a small team Kitchen Assistants.
• Supporting the team to deliver excellent customer service to our visiting groups, face to face serving of meals.
• Assist with large scale events.
• Clean kitchen areas and equipment to the required standards.
• Ensure the observance of Health and Safety requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• A valid DBS
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Catering
• First Aid Certificate
• Previous experience within preparation or catering or kitchen management.
