Looking for an employer that provide opportunities for career progression? There are opportunities to go down a technical pathway, with a view to progressing to Technical Specialist roles OR Deputy Team Leader positions, giving you exposure to more leadership duties.

Our client also encourages handlers to undertake your CII insurance examinations upon successfully passing probation.

Purpose of role:

You will work on cases valued up to £25,000 across a wide range of legal matters, ranging from property disputes to clinical negligence. Playing key role in fulfilling our clients mission of delivering access to justice for everyone, managing all types of cradle to grave.

This is a great opportunity for a Claims professional looking to develop their broad knowledge of legal issues and how the legal system works.

Hybrid working is on offer for this role. 2 days office/3 home. 35 hour working week (9-5).

Duties:

Maintain ongoing contact with the insured throughout the claims process to report on progress showing empathy in a time of legal crisis in their lives

Develop and maintain relationships with customers

Assess and process all claims

Set up new files by reviewing incoming instructions, identify relevant issues and assess if it’s a valid claim

Assess liability and quantum for each case

Draft appropriate correspondence to brokers/insured's requesting additional information as required

Resolve claims through negotiation of settlement, rebuttal of claim and/or declining of cover

Review panel reports and obtain instructions when appropriate

Instruct experts and external counsel where appropriate

Update case management system with diary dates for cases

Work effectively with all stakeholders to the claim (including panel & non-panel professionals) to ensure claims are processed without undue delay

Provide ongoing support to junior roles but without line management responsibility

Requirements:

Claims Handling experience (essential)

Min 5 GCSE Grade C & above (or equivalent)

Exposure to Legal/Insurance/Legal Expenses Insurance (advantageous)

Strong communication skills

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Good numeracy and literacy skills
