Senior Buyer

Zachary Daniels are pleased to be working with a nationally recognised retailer seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Buyer to join their passionate team.

Role Overview:

As a Senior Buyer specializing in Garden and Outdoor products, you will play a pivotal role in driving their retail success through strategic purchasing and supplier management within this category. Based in their South West London office, you will be responsible for sourcing high-quality garden and outdoor products, negotiating contracts, and collaborating closely with suppliers to ensure their merchandise meets the highest standards of quality and value.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize product selection, pricing, and availability within the Garden and Outdoor category.
• Identify new suppliers and maintain strong relationships with existing ones to ensure a diverse and reliable supply chain for garden and outdoor products.
• Negotiate favorable terms and contracts with suppliers to maximize profitability while maintaining quality standards in the Garden and Outdoor category.
• Analyze market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities specific to the Garden and Outdoor category to inform purchasing decisions and drive sales growth.
• Work closely with internal teams, including merchandising, inventory management, and marketing, to align procurement activities within the Garden and Outdoor category with business objectives.
• Monitor and evaluate supplier performance within the Garden and Outdoor category, addressing any issues or discrepancies to ensure consistent product quality and availability.
• Stay informed about industry developments, regulations, and best practices specific to the Garden and Outdoor category to continually improve procurement processes and drive innovation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in a senior buying role within the retail industry, ideallly with a focus on the Garden and Outdoor category, but not essential.
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successfully securing advantageous terms and contracts within the Garden and Outdoor category.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with the capacity to translate data into actionable insights specific to the Garden and Outdoor category.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively within the Garden and Outdoor category.
• Flexibility to work 4 days a week in their South West London office.
