The Company
Nigel Wright's Supply Chain and Procurement Team are working with a well established, market leading Manufacturer to recruit a Senior Buyer working within a small team and when required, deputising for the Department Head, managing both Direct and Indirect purchasing.

The Opportunity
The Senior Buyer will have a broad and varied remit, supporting the Department Head and covering:
  • Operational purchasing – order placement, running MRP
  • Strategic procurement - Supplier audits/performance management and -visits as required 
  • Contract negotiation, new sourcing as required by project/in line with VAVE projects
  • Identifying opportunities to consolidate spend and rationalise supplier base 
  • Managing both Direct and Indirect/subcontract spend, global supply base, liaising with regional counterparts 
  • Working closely with Design to understand sourcing requirements and to manage change control

About You
The ideal Senior Buyer will have/be:
  • Proven purchasing experience desirable from within high-volume manufacturing, electronics, automotive sectors
  • Strong supplier relationship management/stakeholder engagement skills/negotiation skills
  • Able to multitask, work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Flexible and adaptable - able to adopt both an operational/strategic approach as required
  • Independent self-starter, assertive, confident communicator, able to challenge internal stakeholders and external suppliers, resilient
  • Experience of operating SAP highly desirable
  • Must be able to work mainly on site
