The Buyer will form an integral part of the Procurement and Supply Chain function. With a strong background in purchasing, the candidate will take overall responsibility for the category, leading price negotiations, collaborating with internal functions and our grower network to ensure we maintain optimal inventory and deliver key materials on time to meet business objectives.

Roles & Responsibilities

Manage the external suppliers for indirect services.
Develop a detail understanding of the category, market trends, innovations, and industry best practices to support key business decisions
Lead strategic and tactical pricing negotiations for key materials
Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors
Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
Identify new suppliers, agree terms and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate, including discount structures and volume rebates.
Ensure materials are bought at the most competitive price
Manage the purchasing process for the category, ensuring materials are delivered on time to support the nurseries and business needs

The ideal candidates for the role will have -

At least five years similar experience in managing and developing procurement and sourcing relationships.
Influential communication skills, both written and verbal.
Candidates must demonstrate strong people skills; excellent negotiation skills and be commercially astute.
Strong planning and organisational skills, with a proven ability to support multiple sites.
Highly analytical with strong IT skills
