Senior Business Accountant

Morgan Hunt are currently recruiting for a Senior Business Accountant in Northern Ireland on a part time (20 hours) permanent basis with major Regulatory body. This Senior Business Accountant role is paying in the range of £66,000 to £75,500 pro rata.

The Senior Business Accountant will be providing expert financial advice to the Executive Team, Senior Managers, and other budget holders. Responsibilities include managing accurate monthly reports, leading in forecasting and budgeting, proactively addressing business issues and considering their impact on the Regulatory body.

Main Responsibilities of the Senior Business Accountant:

• Prepare and distribute monthly management accounts, monitor expenditure, and identify variances for leadership, ensuring accurate financial reporting and timely communication with stakeholders.
• Lead forward planning, budgeting, risk management, and operational planning processes, providing financial advice and support to departments, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and protocols for all Northern Ireland activities.
• Foster effective communication channels and strong working relationships across teams, facilitating informed decision-making and accurate reporting to stakeholders.
• Maintain professional development to stay updated on accounting practices, utilise software effectively, and deliver finance-related training to staff.
• Represent the Finance department at meetings and collaborate with business accounts staff to enhance management reporting processes and contribute to setting objectives.
• Fulfil additional responsibilities by treating colleagues with respect, championing equality and diversity, complying with data protection policies, and maximizing member recruitment opportunities.

Person Specification of the Senior Business Accountant:

• Recognised CCAB/ CIMA accounting qualification
• Demonstrated ability to stay updated on accounting standards and regulations along with working knowledge of data protection and confidentiality requirements.
• Essential experience in producing accurate and timely management accounts to multiple departments, accurate budget setting and forecasting, and effective involvement in year-end processes.
• Demonstrable experience of working with senior management to deliver best outcomes, clear decision-making supported by a robust rationale in line with departmental strategy, and proactive development of systems for continual improvement.
• Proficiency in effectively importing & exporting data to accounting software.
