British Gypsum is looking for a Senior Automation & Control Engineer to join their team in Robertsbridge, with the purpose of managing and delivering the automation and control strategy for the SPA and Board plant both for short-term and long-term objectives in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. The Senior Automation & Control Engineer main responsibility will be to prioritize and makes decisions regarding automation and control activities to ensure effective running of the plants

What we're looking for:

  • HNC / Degree in Control systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Solid background in a similar role working in 24/7 manufacturing environments
  • Previous experience on working on continuous improvement projects
  • Section Leader trained and the ability to demonstrate leadership qualities
  • Experience working to WCM standards and a strong understanding of process plants
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems - Siemens, Allen Bradley PLC's, SCADA, Profibus

What you will be doing:

  • Mentoring and coaching all control systems engineers across the site
  • Working closely with Line Engineers and Process Engineers within a Performance Team,
  • Ensures that effective maintenance activities and management of change are completed to sustain plant safety, quality, and reliability performance
  • Driving a culture that supports continual development of credible experts
  • The Senior Control & Automation Engineer must take ownership of control systems and automation systems issues on site and making improvements in the processes.
  • Leading projects applying WCM tools. Provides support and technical know-how to capital projects and plant upgrades.
