Lead the design of aircraft systems and structures as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for this established aerospace and defence company.

This organisation works with novel technologies and a specialised varied fleet of aircrafts to allow for the completion of complex data-gathering missions effectively and safely. They emphasise the importance of personal and professional development with their varied support schemes and annual salary reviews.

You will be responsible for managing all design phases of technical projects as well as handling scheduling, estimating and completion of design data.

About the Role:
  • Lead the design of technical projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional teams, providing engineering guidance to support projects.
  • Compile design and certification data for various design reviews.

About You:
  • Ideally, a degree or HND/HNC/OND/ONC in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience working on aircraft – both commercial and military would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in CAD (Catia experience advantageous) and stress analysis (Abaqus/ CAE).
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (CAA, EASA, FAA, Part 21, CS-25).
  • Previous roles as a design checker signatory or Compliance Verification Engineer desirable.
  • Membership in a professional engineering society or Professional Registration with relevant Engineering Council and evidence of CPD would be desirable.

You will be successful in this role if you are an ambitious Mechanical Design Engineer within aerospace and defence looking to advance your technical capabilities further.

Due to the nature of work undertaken by our client, incumbents of these positions are required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK Security Vetting to SC Level.
