Adecco are currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant for a Local Authority in the South London area.

  • Monday- Friday, 36 hours per week
  • Temporary role - 6-month assignment (possibility of extension)
  • £350 daily rate UMBRELLA

*This will be a hybrid role, with the need to be in the office 1-2 days per week *

Purpose of The Role:

An effective management accountant providing valued support to Directors and Heads of Service, as part of a highly professional finance team which gives a robust financial management and accountancy service, driving the principles of VFM. Oversee and deliver key financial processes on time, to a high

standard and as efficiently as possible to enable the council to manage its limited resources well.

Duties:

  • Being responsible for providing and delivering financial support and financial processes for specific service.
  • Taking active ownership for delivering the key outputs during the year. This includes ensuring that deadlines are met and that outputs are of a high quality to support effective financial management.
  • Supervising individuals on specific tasks, where relevant. This will include setting clear expectations for tasks and reviewing work to ensure it is of sufficient quality.
  • Establishing a strong working relationship with budget holders, with regular meetings, to help support them with their financial management accountabilities.
  • Using IT software to produce financial reports and information on a timely basis and to a high standard.
  • Ensuring that proper accounting records are maintained during the year to support financial management and ensure an efficient financial close at the year end.
  • Regularly perform reconciliations of balance sheet and income accounts and expenditure accounts where appropriate.

Qualifications/ Experience required:

  • Must be AAT qualified and or relevant accounting experience.
  • Preferable Social Care / Local Government experience re budget setting/financial monitoring and closing of accounts.
  • Must be IT literate- general ledger systems and Excel/Word intermediate skills
