Reed Talent Solutions are currently working with a nationwide NHS Organisation to recruit a Senior Accountant on an initial three-month contract. The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Financial Control department, CFO directorate and wider NHS directorates, to understand, plan and manage the financial position.

Role Information

  • Fully remote working with occasional travel to Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle
  • Salary: £43,742 - £50,056
  • 3-month contract with potential for extension

Key Responsibilities

  • Use a range of forecasting and review techniques to maintain financial control and to forecast accurately.
  • Provide accurate and timely budgetary control information and consolidated reports on the organisation’s total central budget position.
  • Provide financial advice and support to NHS England colleagues.
  • Liaise with other managers to share best practice.
  • Coordinate the National Agreement of Balances process across central and regional directorates and with the Business Partner Teams
  • Use expertise in generating and processing financial and non-financial data to help achieve the optimum mix of quality, efficiency, and value for money.
  • Present, interpret, and explain complex and technical financial information and concepts in a clear and concise format, tailoring for finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Manage the team’s business support function, including developing and managing the team’s business plan, progress and reporting risk and issue management.
  • Liaise with appropriate functions within the regions, organisation and the Sector.
  • Manage all corporate business returns, including planning and workforce returns.

Essential Criteria

  • Understanding of NHS Finance and HM Treasury Financial Reporting Manual, DHSC Group Accounting Manual and Managing Public Money policy.
  • Experience of handling management information and presenting it in a logical and structured way.
  • Budgeting, costing, and forecasting techniques.
  • Financial analysis, modelling and presentation techniques and its strategic impact.
