We have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at a school in Cardiff. As a SEN TA, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting pupils with social and emotional needs, ensuring they thrive in their educational journey.

Role Overview:

  • Position: Teaching Assistant (SEN)
  • Start Date: April 2024
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM (term time only)
  • Hourly Rate: £12.82/hr (inclusive of holiday pay)
  • Weekly Pay: Enjoy easy online timesheets and weekly paychecks
  • Location: Based in Cardiff, supporting pupils with SEN

Responsibilities: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with pupils, teachers, and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support to pupils with social and emotional needs.
  • Assisting in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and contributing to planning and delivery.
  • Clarifying instructions, ensuring pupils can use materials effectively, and motivating them to stay on task.
  • Building supportive relationships with pupils and promoting their acceptance and inclusion.
  • Monitoring pupil progress, providing feedback, and adapting activities as needed.
  • Supporting pupils in developing social skills both in and out of the classroom.
  • Collaborating with the class teacher and SENCO to enhance learning experiences.

Requirements: To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • Experience: Previous experience supporting pupils with special needs, either in a school or similar setting.
  • Understanding: A genuine understanding of the needs of children with social and emotional challenges.
  • Attributes: Confidence in working with challenging behaviour and a willingness to provide personal care.
  • Qualifications: A minimum of 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths (grades 9 to 4 or equivalent).
  • Enhanced DBS: You must have a current enhanced DBS check or be willing to obtain one.
