Position Overview: As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs to achieve their full potential. Working closely with experienced educators and other professionals, you will provide tailored assistance and encouragement to students, ensuring they receive the individualised support they require to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during classroom activities and learning exercises.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and other staff members to promote student progress and well-being.
  • Monitor student progress and behaviour, documenting observations and communicating with relevant stakeholders as needed.
  • Help students develop essential skills, including communication, social interaction, and academic proficiency.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs preferred.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in education, childcare, or related fields desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of individuals with diverse needs.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to respond positively to changing priorities and situations.
