The School
A well-equipped school that provides specialist education for pupils aged 4 to 19. Most pupils have a primary diagnosis of Autism and a many also have a secondary diagnosis. The school has a fantastic range of facilities to cater for individual needs and physical abilities. Staff work closely with pupils and their families to establish personalised learning programmes. Ample outdoor space allows for a range of outdoor learning activities that enhance pupils' wellbeing and mental health.

The Role
This is a hugely rewarding role. As an SEND teacher, you will be implementing specific and targeted teaching techniques to ensure each student makes good progress. You will deliver dynamic lessons that cater to the individual needs of each student. You will also be responsible for directing Teaching Assistants in the class.

Main responsibilities

  • Plan, teach and evaluate lessons
  • Prepare resources
  • Direct Teaching Assistants
  • Write progress reports for individual students
  • Liaise with parents/carers
  • Liaise with external professionals (medical staff, Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists etc)


Essential Criteria

  • Degree Qualification (Level 6)
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Understanding of SEND Code of Practice
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Flexibility


Desirable Criteria

  • Additional SEND qualification(s)
  • Prior experience in a specialist provision
