September Teaching Assistant Vacancies 

  • Pay Rate: £12.82/hour (inclusive of holiday uplift)
  • Location: Various schools across Cardiff
  • Job Type: Ad hoc, full-time, and part-time

We are looking for dedicated Teaching Assistants who are passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is an opportunity to join a nurturing team and make a significant impact in various schools.

Although experience in schools is desirable, we are keen to see applications from candidates who have the transferable skills and experience working in healthcare, vulnerable adults and/or experience working directly with additional learning needs. Most importantly, you will have a passionate, empathetic, and patient nature with the understanding that children’s needs come first, prioritising their safety and wellbeing on a daily basis.

The schools Reed work with specialise across a range of needs, including but not limited too; Autism, ADHD, Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH), Behavioural Needs, Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Behavioural Emotional Social Difficulties (BESD), etc.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide tailored support to children with SEND, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and can engage in learning activities.
  • Work closely with teachers to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and the setup of the classroom environment.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction among students.
  • Monitor and record students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
  • Adapt to working in different educational settings, quickly building rapport with new students and staff.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting children with SEND.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work in various educational settings.
  • Commitment to professional development and learning new skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential.
