ASEND tuition supports SEND pupils and continues their learning while they cannot access school or don’t have a school place. We are looking for an SEN Teacher or Tutor with Key stage 1 experience, to support an autistic pupil in North Wales to help with his anxiety.

What ASEND Tuition Is

We are looking for inspirational SEN teachers and tutors to support children and young people with SEND in North Wales. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school.

We tutor pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our tuition is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of tutors to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

About The Pupil

We are looking for a tutor to support a 7-year-old boy at his home in Conwy. He is an autistic pupil who also has ADHD and dyspraxia. He has experienced some difficulties at school but despite his circumstances, he is a sociable and affectionate child who has a range of interests. These vary from science and engineering to cars and dinosaurs. He loves going to museums, exploring science projects and cooking. He is very curious about how things work and operate and he enjoys watching a TV programme that explains how things work.

He needs a tutor who can empathise with a pupil who is not able to attend school, so a tutor who has worked with pupils of a similar background would be helpful. It is key that the tutor can work in a pupil-led environment and be flexible, creative and adaptable on a daily basis. An attentive and sensitive tutor who can build up positive relationships with pupils would also be essential, as the pupil would engage better if he is with a trusting adult - we appreciate this can take time. He is an anxious child, so someone who can help him overcome his worries would be ideal.

About you:

  • You’ll have some experience with SEN: including Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD) and demand avoidance (PDA)

  • You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way

  • Qualified Teacher Status is not required but would be an advantage

  • You’ll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement

  • You’ll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan

  • Ideally, have some experience in helping children with their learning

  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils

  • Use a person-centred approach in their work

  • Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do

  • Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement.

About ASEND

ASEND is a highly specialist SEND business, placing dedicated SEND professionals in schools and services throughout the UK.

In 2019 we were asked to support our first pupil at their home because the school felt they couldn’t meet his needs any further and they stopped attending. That pupil then successfully transitioned into a new school place and we were asked to support another young person. Over the next four years, we have supported children and young people across numerous London Boroughs, Local Authorities just outside London and various schools. Many of them made it into a new school or returned to their school with the support of our bespoke tutoring service.

We see ourselves as a SEND company rather than a recruitment agency, meaning we do more than just staffing for SEN education. Our Directors all have a unique understanding of SEND and between them share a wealth of knowledge and experience unparalleled in the field. Our team all have a passion for helping young people with SEN overcome barriers and progress. Your experience with us and our young people will therefore feel very different from what you may normally expect.

If you are seeking a truly rewarding position and are passionate about enriching the lives of young people, then do not hesitate to apply now and one of our specialist teams will review your application.
