ASEND tuition supports SEND pupils and helps them continue their learning while they cannot access school or don’t have a school place. We are looking for a teacher or tutor with experience in working with non-verbal autistic children with severe learning difficulties to support a pupil with Special Needs in Hayes.

What ASEND Tuition Is

We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Hayes. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including medical needs, mental health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school or to continue their learning.

We tutor pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our tuition is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of tutors to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

About The Pupil

Our pupil, an 11-year-old boy residing in Hayes, is a non-verbal autistic child with severe learning difficulties and sensory needs. He is able to utilise various communication methods to express his desires effectively. During his time at school, he regularly used the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), demonstrating his preferences by choosing pictures of desired items or indicating disinterest by pushing things away, especially when it came to food choices. He actively engaged during Intensive Interaction sessions, enjoying sharing toys with others and using pictures to select toys he wished to share. Additionally, he finds comfort in being rocked and sung to, and he greatly benefits from sensory play activities.

If you're eager to make a meaningful difference in a young boy's life and help him reach his full potential, then this opportunity is right for you.

About you:

  • You’ll have previous direct experience working with Autistic children with severe learning difficulties
