ASEND tuition supports SEND pupils and helps them continue their learning while they cannot access school or don’t have a school place. We are looking for a teacher or tutor with ASD experience to support a pupil with Special Needs in Uxbridge.

What ASEND Tuition Is

We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Uxbridge. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including medical needs, Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school or to continue their learning.

We tutor pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our tuition is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of tutors to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

About The Pupil

Our pupil is an 11-year-old girl from Uxbridge, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She communicates primarily using single and two-worded sentences in Arabic to request and label things, often repeating what she hears (echolalia). While she can count in Arabic up to ten and recite some English phrases and greetings, she hasn't yet engaged in reciprocal verbal exchanges. She demonstrates the ability to identify and sort colours and basic shapes, construct towers, and replicate drawings of shapes and letters. Generally, she remains calm and content, but when she struggles to understand, she may become distressed, leading to crying or screaming.

To support her learning, she requires an ASD-aware tutor who can create a total communication environment with frequent, motivating breaks to regulate her sensory and emotional needs. Utilising visual schedules, "Now & Next" strategies and a TEACCH approach with play-based activities will enhance her participation in adult-directed learning. She enjoys watching cartoons and playing games on her device. She particularly loves dolls, finding joy in grooming them by brushing their hair and dressing them up.
