Teaching Assistant (Post 16)
  • Location: Ashford, supporting students at East Kent College, Dover
  • Job Type: Full-time

Our school is offering a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join our Post 16 provision. This role is perfect for someone passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Support students with a range of needs including Social, Emotional & Mental Health difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, and ADHD.
  • Help students to achieve their full potential and encourage independence.
  • Work within a partnership that allows students to access a wide range of courses at East Kent College while having their complex needs met by our skilled staff.
  • Provide a warm, compassionate presence in the classroom, contributing positively to the student’s learning experience.
  • Adapt to the varying needs of the students and contribute to a supportive learning environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience or a strong interest in working with students aged 11-18 years with social, emotional, mental health, and/or behavioural needs.
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour regularly.
  • Ability to work effectively both under clear direction and using your own initiative.
  • Strong team player, committed and enthusiastic about providing bespoke learning experiences.
  • Patience, resilience, calmness, and composure in a demanding environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and the school.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work comfortably in a challenging and demanding environment.
