SEN Teaching Assistant

Job title: 1:1 Teaching assistant ASD (Primary)

Location: Gateshead

Hours: 8:30 – 3:30pm

Salary: £83 - £120 per day

A good Primary school in Gateshead is looking a teaching assistant to work in a mainstream Primary school supporting a child with ASD. At times you could be on an alternative curriculum and using different strategies to support the child for example visual timetable, sensory breaks. You may work between the hours 8:30 - 3:30pm.

The headteacher is very supportive and is looking to hear from candidates that have an eagerness to learn and be part of a friendly team.

1:1 Teaching Assistant role

• Supporting the pupils in their education through the school’s own curriculum 
• Supporting the class teacher with recording attainment, behaviour plans and EHCP paperwork 
• Carrying out interventions with a 1:1 
• Following the school’s behaviour management policy effectively 
• Promoting independence with life skills 
• Providing an outstanding level of safeguarding and pastoral care

The ideal candidate will: 

• Be available for work Monday to Friday 
• Have some experience with autism (desirable but not essential)
• Candidates with no experience but a willingness to learn are welcome to apply 
• Be proactive, energetic, kind and nurturing.  
• Have an enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to go through the process with ourselves)
• A full checkable work history 
• Graduate Teaching Assistant are encouraged to apply to gain experience.
