Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Southampton

Start date: ASAP

Job Type: Day to day, short-term and long-term opportunities available.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants to join our team and work across SEN schools in Southampton and Hampshire. The successful candidate will work across various SEN settings, supporting students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, and other learning difficulties.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioUr management strategies.
  • Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development, promoting independence and self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create inclusive learning environments and adapt teaching materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools (SEN) or equivalent are advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents/guardians.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational needs of children with SEN.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across different SEN settings and with students of varying ages and abilities.
  • Enhanced Child Work Force DBS or willing to apply for one.
