SEN Teaching Assistant

We are currently looking for a compassionate and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team in a SEN school based in Bradford. This role is crucial in supporting children with complex needs, and we are seeking individuals who have experience or qualifications in working with a variety of mental and physical disabilities. Prior experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant is highly desirable.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Facilitate activities that encourage students’ academic and social development.
  • Adapt communication methods to suit the individual needs of students.
  • Collaborate with teachers to monitor the progress of students and contribute to assessments.
  • Support the personal care needs of students as required.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or relevant qualifications in special educational needs.
  • A strong understanding of the different types of mental and physical disabilities and the impact these can have on learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
  • A patient, caring, and supportive approach to working with children.
  • The ability to work flexibly and adapt to the needs of individual students.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of special education.
  • An enhanced DBS check is a prerequisite for this role.
