About the SEN Teaching Assistant - Social and Emotional Support Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant focusing on social and emotional support, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and thrive in the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with social and emotional needs
  • Implementing individualized support plans and interventions
  • Assisting students in developing coping strategies and emotional regulation skills
  • Supporting students in building positive relationships with peers and adults
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers
  • Promoting social and emotional well-being through targeted interventions and activities
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times

SEN Teaching Assistant - Social and Emotional Support Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with social and emotional needs is desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships and establish trust with students
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to learn and develop in the role
