We are excited to announce the opportunity for an experienced SEN Teacher to join our newly established independent specialist school in Stoke on Trent.

The school is designed for young people aged 5 to 19 with complex communication needs typically associated with Autism Spectrum Conditions. We are committed to providing a broad curriculum leading to various qualifications and a life skills pathway to enhance social skills, personal development, and employability.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Provide high-quality teaching to enable pupils to progress academically, socially, and emotionally.
  • Plan and deliver lessons across a range of subjects tailored to build self-esteem and confidence in young people.
  • Supervise, support, and guide Teaching Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants, contributing to their professional development.
  • Implement school policies and practices, including those related to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
  • Monitor the health, well-being, and personal care of pupils, liaising with pastoral, clinical, SEND support teams, and other relevant professionals.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status, or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Evidence of in-service training.
  • Experience in delivering outcomes for young people of upper primary or secondary age working below age-related expectations.
  • Experience teaching a range of subjects across the National Curriculum is advantageous.
  • Understanding of Autism Spectrum Conditions and the ability to plan and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • High expectations and creativity in teaching methods.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute to the professional development of colleagues.
