SEN Teaching Assistant - Temporary to Permanent

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our team as a SEN Teaching Assistant at our community primary school in Plymouth. The successful candidate will be based within a highly skilled team, where they will work closely with children who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Position Details:

  • Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Plymouth, United Kingdom
  • Salary: £85 per day
  • Contract: Full-time (5 days a week)
  • Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEND, both inside the classroom and during specialised sessions.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with specific needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Collaborate with other staff members, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEND is highly desirable.
  • Empathy: A genuine passion for supporting children with diverse learning needs.
  • Patience: Ability to remain patient and calm in challenging situations.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student requirements.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team of educators.
