Music and Performing Arts Teacher
  • Location: Caterham, Surrey
  • Contract: Full-time, Permanent
  • Salary: £31,350 - £46,179 per year (M1 - UPS2 Fringe) Plus £5,000 Welcome bonus*

Reed Education is seeking a dedicated Music and Performing Arts Teacher to deliver high-quality education to students aged 11 – 16 with communication and social interaction difficulties, typically associated with Autism. This role is an opportunity to join a collaborative team and make a significant impact on our students’ lives.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Deliver and develop the Music and Performing Arts curriculum, considering the educational, physical, and social needs of students.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team including therapy staff to support student development.
  • Utilise short, medium, and long-term plans to deliver an effective curriculum.
  • Set, monitor, and review personalised targets to optimise learning for each student.
  • Assess, review, and report on student progress to parents, team members, and relevant bodies.
  • Develop lesson plans with a reflective approach to teaching outcomes.
  • Contribute to the review of Statements, EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews.
  • Provide structured lessons with maintained pace, motivation, and challenge.
  • Stay informed on current issues in the field of autism to plan effective teaching and learning.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Ability to teach Music and Performing Arts up to GCSE level.
  • Knowledge and experience with ASD, SEMH, and PDA profile students.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Experience managing a range of behavioural approaches, including challenging behaviours.
