SEN Home Tutor | Gloucestershire | £26.62 per hour | Flexible Working Hours

SMART Education are looking for a committed and experienced Tutor with a real passion to support vulnerable, at risk and disengaged learners with their core-subjects! We offer our Tutors highly rewarding assignments, whilst providing flexibility and professional support to ensure your success. You will be offered the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with children and young people with a variety of learning needs through tutoring in a creative, flexible and engaging manner.

Home tuition involves yourself working in a home setting; this may be the family home or a residential setting for LAC. You will be working 1:1 with students from various backgrounds and differentiating needs, therefore it is vital that you are confident in your ability to differentiate and deliver 1:1 tuition lessons to meet the YP’s needs. Students ages can range from key stage 1 to further education; however, you will be placed with a student in the key stage that you feel most confident and experienced in teaching.

You will be required to:

  • Create a calm and positive learning environment
  • Build a strong rapport with both the YP and their families
  • Planning lesson plans and activities for the tutoring sessions to ensure the curriculum is covered sufficiently
  • Supporting a child with achieving their personal goals
  • Complete a home tuition report after sessions that outlines progress of the student
  • Supporting the YP’s re-engagement in education
  • A QTS and experience as a tutor is essential

Person Specification:

  • A creative and versatile teaching style Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS / PGCE), Subject Specialism or extensive tuition experience supporting with English, Maths and/or Science
  • Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of working with children/young people with additional learning needs (SEN/SEMH)
  • Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of working with disengaged young people or looked after children
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to acquire one
  • Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of Safeguarding practices
