SEMH Teaching Assistant

Empowering Learning are supporting a school in the Gainsborough area who are looking to appoint a teaching assistant to work within their enhanced resource unit. The role will be supporting with pupils who present with SEN.
The role will commence in April 2024. The hours of work are 08:30-16:00
The school are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working with children and young people
- Can build relationships with children who struggle to engage in class
- Have a good understanding of the KS3 and KS4 curriculums
- Are familiar with how to deal with safeguarding concerns
- Have excellent behaviour management
- Is an excellent communicator
The main duties within this role will be:
- Supporting pupils who present with social and emotional needs
- Providing academic support to children working below age expected levels
- Liaising with senior leaders in school around progress of the children
- Running intervention sessions around teamwork, cooperation and positive communication
- Working on a 1:1 basis with pupils who are struggling to engage in class

The successful candidate will be required to complete Disclosure and Barring Service declarations in line with Section 115 of the Police Act 1997. You will also be required to provide 2 professional references covering at least the last 2 years, and complete our online application followed by a video or face to face interview.
