Job Title: Secondary Teacher for Core Subjects

Location: Southampton

Start date: September

Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher with a heart for supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs? Do you possess the skills to teach across core subjects while providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

We are seeking a talented Secondary Teacher to join an alternative provision in Southampton and teach across core subjects. The ideal candidate will be committed to supporting the diverse needs of students, adapting teaching methods to suit individual learning styles, and fostering positive relationships to promote academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons across core subjects (Mathematics, English, Science, and Humanities) tailored to the individual needs of students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behavior management strategies and encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and external agencies to develop and implement personalized learning plans for students, including Individual Education Plans and behaviour support strategies.
  • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and implement interventions to support academic achievement and holistic development.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and external stakeholders to promote a collaborative approach to supporting student well-being and academic success.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching across core subjects at the secondary level.
  • Understanding of social, emotional, and mental health needs and experience implementing effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students and adapt teaching approaches to promote engagement and progress.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
