Software Developer in Test

Glasgow / Hybrid

Outside IR35

Loriens Public Sector clients requires the skills and knowledge of an experienced SDET for an initial 6 month contract.


You will work as part of a small team of Software Developer in Test specialists ensuring test plans are understood, integrated, delivered, and automated where possible, coordinating and manage test schedules. Build and maintain testing artefacts, looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers, and ensuring decisions by teams align with the strategy.

Technology knowledge:

  • Best Practice test approaches
  • Test Automation in CI/CD pipelines
  • Selenium/WebDriver test automation
  • Java and JavaScript
  • Load testing tooling
  • Performance testing tooling
  • BDD test tooling (Gherkin/Cucumber)
  • Proficient around Linux based environments
  • AWS environment experience
  • Mariadb/Oracle/Mysql experience

Bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical

  • Translate technical concepts between infrastructure, delivery management and service management so they are understood by all
  • Able to speak on behalf of technical and service management teams and facilitate the relationships with indirect stakeholders
  • Able to share knowledge and mentor (potentially non-technical) colleagues

Technology knowledge - good experience of one or more of:

  • Infrastructure testing tooling (Kubernetes, Terraform)
  • JMeter
  • Gatling
  • Load Testing
  • Performance Testing
  • Automating OAT (for Web applications and RESTful APIs)
  • Automating Acceptance Testing (for Web applications)
  • Automating Regression Testing (for Web applications)

SC Clearance is an advantage as it will mean you can hit the ground running.
