SRG are supporting the growth of a VC funded precision medicine company that is developing next-gen diagnostic tests to support cures for cancer. With a committed, friendly and flexible team based out of Alderley Park the future looks bright with plans to almost double in the next 12 months so this is a fantastic time to join this innovative business.

They are currently recruiting for Scientist to support the development of their LC-MS/MS biomarker discovery platform and resulting clinical assays.

You will be involved in a variety of projects that aim to expand theirs portfolio of proteomic and phosphoproteomic assays, and to develop these into new clinical products.

Responsibilities and Duties:

* Operation of LC-MS/MS systems

* Work with the Mass Spectrometry Technical Lead to ensure that LC-MS/MS systems are regularly maintained and calibrated, that all buffers are properly prepared and regularly replaced, and to ensure that the proper Quality Control samples are run, and robust checks are in place.

* Ensure that LC-MS/MS systems are operating well and have as little down time as possible (e.g., =20%).

* Outputs of all maintenance, calibrations, QC work are to be documented for reporting purposes.

* To make process improvements and project efficiencies wherever possible and to contribute freely to the team environment in a manner conducive to the success of company goals.

* Develop methods into clinical assays that can be run at laboratories and be relied upon to aid treatment decision making.

* Assist with the maintenance of cell line stocks and generation of samples for method development and QC.

You ideally have

  • A PhD (or equivalent experience) in proteomics or protein biochemistry applied to the investigation of mammalian cell biology with expertise in LC-MS/MS proteomics.
  • Good hands-on experience running/operating high-end LC-MS/MS systems (including hands-on experience calibrating the MS systems,
  • Experience in preparing samples using proteomic workflows for LC-MS/MS analysis
