Meridian Business Support have an exciting opportunity for a kitchen assistant to join our client on a temporary basis. As a kitchen assistant, you will be responsible for preparing food to the highest standard for our service users, ensuring the provision of nutritious meals. Your duties will encompass managing health and safety protocols and maintaining food hygiene standards while performing a full range of kitchen duties.

Hours: 30 hours per week (09:00 - 17:00)
Rates of Pay:
  • Regular: £12.00 per hour
  • Bank Holiday: £23.58 per hour
  • Overtime: £17.69 per hour
  • Weekend: £17.69 per hour
  • Evening: £15.72 per hour
About the Role:
As a School Meals Provision Kitchen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the school kitchen and the provision of nutritious meals to students. You will work within a dynamic team to prepare, cook, and serve meals while adhering to health and safety regulations and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to menu specifications and dietary requirements.
  • Ensure the kitchen and associated areas are kept clean and sanitary at all times, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of serving areas during meal times, maintaining a neat and orderly environment.Adhere to health and safety protocols, including proper handling and storage of food, as well as safe operating procedures for kitchen equipment.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in a kitchen environment
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
